Closing Deep Werk Labs – Rishikesh

Places

Some places feel like they were built for inspiration. They hum with energy, pulling creativity from the depths of our soul. Sacred spaces have this magic—they nurture purpose, spark connection, and invite the kind of clarity that transforms both the inner and outer world.

Back in 2010, coworking spaces became sanctuaries of imagination. In cities like Berlin, London, San Francisco, Bangalore, and New York, cafés and community hubs buzzed with the energy of dreamers, builders, and artists shaping the future. These spaces birthed ideas that became the backbone of the world we live in today.

In 2022, I found myself in Rishikesh, recovering from the burnout of 20 years as an entrepreneur. Exhausted, I stood by the Ganga, looking for the inspiration to begin anew. And as the river whispered its ancient wisdom, a question emerged:

"For centuries the world’s greatest philosophers, mystics, artists, and seekers have drawn inspiration from the Ganga—what could that energy look like today? What kind of people and ideas could it call forth in the modern world?"

That question became the seed for Deep Werk Labs—a petite coworking and community studio in the large inner-world clinic called Rishikesh. Imagined to gather and nurture the inspirations and ideas sparked by the Ganga, it’s a place to connect, celebrate, and create your life’s best work. Whether you’re working on enriching the human inner world, dreaming of a new future, or seeking fresh inspiration, this space could be just what you could be looking for to do some deep work.

What Made DWL Special?
  • A Sacred Location: Perched on Freedom Ghat, near Laxman Jhula, the Ganga’s energy flows right through.
  • Intimate and Intentional: A small, curated space for meaningful conversations and big ideas.
  • For a Purposeful Community: Entry was by pre-booking, connecting those who share a vision for transformation.
  • Dynamic Design: By day, a coworking studio; by night, a listening room, salon, or creative gathering for artists, healers, and dreamers.
What Lessons did we learn?

This project faced its share of challenges—limited time, low community engagement, and poor connectivity made it difficult to build the momentum we had hoped for. At its heart, the space was meant to flow quietly and draw the right people in, not demand attention. Perhaps the timing was off, or the philosophy needed amplification. For now, we’ve decided to draw the curtains on this chapter, take time to recover, and leave space for something new to emerge. Thank you—for your support, or even your quiet distance. Both have been part of the learning.

What did we validate?

While the project may have failed as a venture, the experiment itself was a success. As a seeker, you often encounter ideas that sound mystical—high-energy spaces, portals, and other such concepts. I always found them intriguing, but I also questioned whether they were real or just collective hallucinations. When blind belief isn’t an option, the only way forward is to test it for yourself. For me, DWL became that test—an attempt to translate a subtle, energetic experience into a sustainable venture. And I can now say with confidence: the experiment succeeded, even if the venture didn’t. I did some of the most important work of my life there. I discovered the writer in me.
